Haiti: Where the Living Envy the Dead

For the dead there is hope.

For the living, there is utter carnage and despair.

For the living, swathes of Haiti have been reduced from a poverty stricken town of pest infested shacks, a crime-ridden town where men, women and children lived on $2 a day, to the raising of Hell on earth as desperation sets in and tens of thousands of homeless men, women and children scramble to find food and water.

This image makes Port-au-Prince appears as a rubbish dump, full of scrap metal and unwanted domestic goods. One journalist for The Telegraph asked 'Where is God in Haiti?'

Here He is. The Mail reports that, 'desperate Haitians have set up roadblocks of corpses in Port-au-Prince to protest at the lack of emergency aid reaching them after the catastrophic earthquake.' 'Where is God in Haiti?' To those who ask that, let us be reminded that Our Lord was crucified on what amounted to a rubbish dump. The same Lord urges us to give to the destitute and to pray on their behalf, for the living and for the dead.
